How to preserve food
$69.00If you grow veggies or have fruit trees or just buy a cheap box of goodies you will end up with an excess of produce. To mitigate wastage it is a good idea to preserve the produce to be able to eat it & enjoy it later. During the practical workshop you will learn different ways of preserving food such as pickling, making jams – canning, drying, freezing, and fermenting. We will make mustard from seeds, pickled veggies, and a soft drink. You will end up with a lot of recipes and “know-how” for preserving food.

How to start beekeeping
$69.00Learn all you need to know to start keeping honey bees in your backyard. In this educational, inspirational and entertaining session, we will share our beekeeping knowledge and how we harvested 160 kg of honey from one hive in a year. We will talk about European honey bees and native bees. Will visit a working beehive. A beehive is a most efficient system providing pollination, honey, pollen, royal jelly, wax and propolis. Bring a light colour long sleeve top, trousers, enclosed shoes and a rimmed hat ( we will provide a protective head net) if you want to visit the working beehive. You will make a bugs hotel to take home.
